Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 12 minutes

Total Time: 22 minutes

Yield: 4 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1 pound of fresh okra

1 cup of all-purpose flour or cornmeal

1 egg

1 cup of breadcrumbs

Cooking spray

DIRECTIONS

Begin by cutting the okra into bite-sized chunks, about 1/2-inch in length.

Take a small bowl and fill it halfway with flour. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg using a fork. Place the breadcrumbs in another bowl.

To bread the okra, start by coating it in flour, then dip it in the egg wash, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs.

Apply a light coating of cooking spray to the basket of your air fryer. Arrange the breaded okra in the basket.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and set the air fryer option. Cook the okra for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket occasionally during the cooking process.

Once done, transfer the crispy okra to an air fryer to a serving plate.

Serve the delicious okra and enjoy!

Nutritional Profile:

Okra is low in calories and contains various essential nutrients. It is a good source of dietary fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, folate, and minerals like potassium and magnesium.

Digestive Health:

The abundant fiber in okra aids in maintaining a healthy digestive system. It contributes to stool bulk, prevents constipation, and supports regularity in bowel movements. Okra can also aid in maintaining a healthy digestive tract.

Blood Sugar Control:

The soluble fiber in okra can help regulate blood sugar levels by slowing down the absorption of sugar in the digestive system. This can be advantageous for individuals who have diabetes or those who are at risk of developing diabetes.

Heart Health:

Okra contains antioxidants and fiber, which can contribute to heart health. The fiber helps reduce cholesterol levels, while the antioxidants help protect against oxidative damage that can lead to heart disease.

Weight Management:

Due to its low calorie and high fiber content, okra can be beneficial for weight management. It provides a feeling of fullness, reduces appetite, and helps control calorie intake.

Anti-Inflammatory Properties:

Okra contains various compounds with anti-inflammatory properties, such as flavonoids and polysaccharides. These compounds may help reduce inflammation in the body and provide potential benefits for conditions like arthritis.

Skin Health:

The vitamin C and antioxidants present in okra contribute to healthy skin. They help combat free radicals, promote collagen production, and maintain skin elasticity, which can result in healthier and younger-looking skin.

Vision Support:

Okra is a good source of vitamin C, vitamin A, and other antioxidants that are beneficial for eye health. These nutrients assist in shielding the eyes against oxidative stress and age-related macular degeneration.

It's important to note that individual responses to okra may vary, and it's always best to consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for personalized advice regarding your specific health needs.
