Roast Beef


Introduction


Roast beef is a classic and flavorful dish that is enjoyed by many meat lovers. It is a popular choice for special occasions, family gatherings, or simply as a comforting meal. The tender and juicy beef, seasoned with aromatic herbs and spices, creates a delightful combination of flavours that is hard to resist.


Preparation Time

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 pounds of beef roast
  • 2 tablespoons rosemary and thyme (fresh or dried)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt


DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
  2. In a dish, combine the sea salt, rosemary, and olive oil.
  3. Use paper towels to pat the beef roast dry. Place the beef roast on a platter and coat the exterior with the oil-herb mixture.
  4. Peel the onion and, if using, split it in half. Place the onion halves in the air fryer basket.
  5. Put the beef roast in the air fryer basket.
  6. Set the timer for 15 minutes to air fry the steak.
  7. When the timer goes off, change the temperature to 360°F (180°C). Check your air fryer's manual to see if rotating the beef roast is necessary (my Philips air fryer does not require rotation).
  8. Set the timer for an additional 30 minutes to cook the meat. This will result in medium-rare meat. Use a meat thermometer to check the temperature and adjust the cooking time if desired. For well-done meat, cook for an extra 5 minutes at a time.
  9. Remove the roast beef from the air fryer and let it rest for at least 10 minutes before serving. This allows the meat to finish cooking and allows the juices to redistribute.
  10. Serve the roast beef thinly sliced against the grain, accompanied by roasted or steamed vegetables, wholegrain mustard, and gravy.
